4 TIPS FOR STAYING FOCUSED

Don’t be afraid of commitment.

Commit to yourself. Get scheduled into classes knowing it’s time for you —to work it out, to take on your day or work out stresses after your work day. Sign up in advance so you’re invested and have it in your schedule—know it’s an appointment with yourself you shouldn’t miss. Plus, if you make it a date and tell friends you’re coming—that’s just an added bonus. Then, if they don’t see you at your 5:30AM HIIT class, you know you’ll be more motivated to show up next time

Fitness isn’t just working out. It’s growth.

Life and fitness are connected mentally, physically and spiritually. What you do in your workout affects you outside of that room. Every step, every pedal stroke, every push can help you grow and get stronger. If you can push yourself to work harder or to try something new, or to step outside your comfort zone, you might just be able to do that outside of class at a meeting, as a parent, or in a relationship. Success breeds success.

Just the basics, get more sleep.

There’s nothing cool about saying you pulled an all-nighter anymore. The research has been in long enough now showing the importance of sufficient sleep (8 hours is a good benchmark). Knowing this, you must try to power down and go to bed early enough and ensure that you wake up energized. Get a good nighttime routine started and start ramping down early enough so that you don’t have excuses for going to bed too late.

Be you.  It’s exhausting any other way.

Stand tall. Tell your story. Once you know who you are and what you stand for, let people know who you are and do it proudly.  It’s tiresome to try to be someone we aren’t day in and day out. We are all here struggling the same struggles and dealing with the same issues. Let people know what you have to offer, what you’ve learned and what you believe. Start letting go of what you think people want you do be. Once you believe you are enough you will feel fully capable just as you are. If you listen to others with an open mind and share, you’ll see the world open up in ways you might not have seen before. You’ll feel more free, less stressed and ready to take on the world once you realize that you can be who you really are and things will be OK.
