I took an interest in group fitness during my first week as a freshman when UNL hosts free classes for students. Cardio dance was my first love, as I had always enjoyed dancing and music as a big part of my life. I loved sweating alongside a group of people and having the instructor there to plan the workout and motivate us. It took me until graduate school to decide to study and train to be a group fitness instructor in 2016, and I started teaching Cardio Dance classes at UNL soon after.
How you came to fly?
I wanted to expand my horizons beyond just Cardio Dance and learn how to teach Barre, one of my other favorite class styles. A friend told me that Fly was hosting auditions, and although I hadn’t ever been to a class there, I auditioned and was admitted to the training group in 2017. Throughout the training, I not only learned the barre class basics, but was opened up to a whole new world at Fly. A community where everyone cares about the success of one another, about pushing ourselves to be the best, and about genuine connections. I started making these connections inside and outside of my initial barre training group, and Fly has grown with me and supported me ever since.
